When I finished my first book, Perspectives of the Heart, in 2011, I went to a few literary agents and publishing houses and was told by everyone I needed to change the ending, which I was not willing to do.  I decided to self-publish.  

I also didn't want to only write in one genre which they would have had me do as well.  This enabled me to publish my next book, a psychological thriller, 12 Days, which came out on 12/12/12.  

Both books were too adult for my daughter to read so I decided to write something for her.  That was when the idea for a young adult book about a dystopian future Manhattan where it is always winter, One Season, was born. 

I found it difficult to finish the whole story in one book without it being the next War and Peace.  My amazing daughter suggested I make it into a series of books.   So, I did just that.  Following up One Season came The Underground, and then Atlantica, and now Eden closes out the series.  

I currently have three more books in the works, Footage, Siesta Springs, and Unsolved: Like and Subscribe.  

One Season, The Underground, and Atlantica are all available as audiobooks on Audible and all of my titles are available in print and digitally on Amazon.

My name is EJ Flynn.  My story is very long and all too short at the same time.  I am a wife, I am a mother, and I am living with cancer.  In October 2021 I was officially diagnosed with Stage 4 Metastatic Breast Cancer in my bones.  Despite the prognosis,  I choose to lead with hope and live my best life to create beautiful memories for my family, especially my daughter.  My daughter, Abigail, is my greatest accomplishment and I am profoundly proud she will be my legacy.  My message to the world is to hug your people, do all the things, and live every day like the gift that it is.

I have been creating stories since I could talk.  I always wanted to be a writer and a teacher.  Finally, after over 30 years of working as everything but, I did my 2018 tax return and the only employment I claimed was professional writer and teacher.  It took a long time but I could finally say I reached my goal.   I'm not a very religious person, I am a very spiritual person and truly believe the universe is always talking to us and when we listen, amazing things happen.  I live by something my dad said to me once, "God's delay is not God's denial".  Just because it hasn't happened yet, doesn't mean it still can't.  I always told my students, "Yes, you can.  No matter what it is, if you want it, yes, you can."  

My why, why I am here, is to inspire, to remind, to lead by example, that dreams really do come true and yes, you can!
